Everyone knows that when you get a flat tire your in trouble you won't get anywhere fast and you are gonna want to get it fixed asap.
In this post we are going to talk about the 7 spokes (parts of old-timey tires) of life and how its important to try to work on your weak spokes.
The Spokes
The seven spokes of life are:
Mental
Spiritual
Physical
Family
Financial
Personal
Career or business
As we start this new year, I recommend that you set at least one goal in each of these areas to lead a better, healthier, and happier life.
1. Mental:
Think about these questions and rate yourself on a scale of 1 to 10. How is your general attitude? Emotional intelligence? Formal education? Continuing education and training? How would you rate your creative imagination? Inquisitive mind? Your self-image? And finally, how would you rate your enthusiasm for life?
2. Spiritual:
On a scale of 1 to 10. How is your relationship with or belief in God? Your inner peace? Your influence on others? How is your relationship with your spouse? What about church involvement? Your sense of purpose? How would you rate your attitude towards charitable giving? How is prayer life? And Bible study time?
3. Physical:
On a scale of 1 to 10? How would you rate your general appearance? Your energy levels? Your muscle development? Weight? What about your diet and nutrition? How are your stress levels? Endurance? And strength?
4. Family:
Again, think about these questions and rate yourself on a scale of 1 to 10. How well do you listen? Are you being a good role model? Are you principled but flexible? Are building esteem in others? Do you express love and respect?
5. Financial:
How would you rate your financial priorities? How is your personal budget? How would you rate your impulse purchases? Are you earning enough and living within your means? How is paying off your debt coming along? Do you have adequate insurance on you, your home, and other assets? How would you rate your savings for retirement?
6. Personal:
Do you have recreation time? What about exercise? How is your relationships with your friends? Do you have adequate quiet time? Are you investing in yourself and growing? How would you rate your consistency? How dependable are you?
7. Career or Business:
Again, on a scale of 1 to 10, how much do you like what you do? Do you understand what your job is? How is your relationship with your co-workers or employees? Do you have and understand company goals? How much influence do you have on the business? How would you rate your opportunity for advancement or growth? Are you empowering your employees?
Now that you have gone through each spoke of life, which spokes are your strengths and which spoke is a struggle for you? We should be setting goals for each spoke to keep our Wheel of Life round and not flat!
